→ Crumble Topping
02 - 1/2 cup rolled oats
03 - 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
04 - 2 tablespoons almond flour or whole wheat flour
05 - 2 tablespoons light brown sugar or coconut sugar
06 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
08 - Pinch of salt
09 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
10 - 2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
→ Optional
11 - 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries
# Cooking steps:
01 - Set oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
02 - Wash and core the apples, ensuring the bottom remains intact to hold the filling.
03 - In a medium bowl, combine rolled oats, chopped nuts, almond or whole wheat flour, brown or coconut sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Stir until evenly blended.
04 - Add melted butter and unsweetened applesauce to the dry mixture, stirring until moist and well combined.
05 - If desired, fold in raisins or dried cranberries for added texture and flavor.
06 - Place the cored apples upright in a baking dish and fill each cavity generously with the oat-nut crumble mixture.
07 - Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of water into the bottom of the baking dish to prevent sticking during baking.
08 - Cover the dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
09 - Remove the foil and continue baking uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, until apples are tender and the crumble topping is golden brown.
10 - Serve warm plain or accompanied by a spoonful of Greek yogurt or plant-based alternative.
