# Cooking steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
02 - Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
03 - In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Incorporate vanilla extract.
04 - Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
05 - Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and smooth the contours.
06 - Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
07 - Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, beating until smooth. Divide frosting into two portions and tint one pink and the other yellow.
08 - Level cake layers if necessary. Place one layer on a serving plate and spread with pink buttercream. Top with second layer and frost entire cake with yellow buttercream.
09 - Adorn cake with heart and star-shaped sugar decorations and sprinkle with edible glitter or pearls if desired.
