10 - ¼ teaspoon salt
11 - ½ cup granulated sugar

# Cooking steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-inch round baking dish.
02 - In a large bowl, mix diced pears, cranberries, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, and cornstarch until fruit is evenly coated.
03 - Spread the fruit filling evenly into the prepared baking dish.
04 - Bake for 20 minutes until fruit softens and releases juices. Remove from oven.
05 - While the fruit bakes, beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt on medium speed until soft peaks form using an electric mixer.
06 - Gradually add sugar one tablespoon at a time while beating on high speed until stiff, glossy peaks form.
07 - Spoon or pipe the meringue over the hot fruit, shaping decorative peaks.
08 - Return dish to oven and bake for 15 minutes until meringue is lightly golden.
09 - Allow to cool slightly and serve warm or at room temperature.
