Sparkling Hibiscus Mint Lemonade (Printable)

Bright hibiscus and mint lemonade sweetened with honey or agave, topped with sparkling water — chilled and fizzy.

# Ingredient list:

→ Hibiscus & Mint Base

01 - 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers (or 2 hibiscus tea bags)
02 - 10 fresh mint leaves, plus additional leaves for garnish
03 - 1/3 cup honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
04 - 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 3–4 lemons)
05 - 2 cups cold water

→ Sparkling Finish

06 - 2 cups chilled sparkling water
07 - Lemon slices, for garnish
08 - Ice cubes

# Cooking steps:

01 - Place the dried hibiscus flowers (or tea bags) and mint leaves in a small pitcher or bowl and pour in 2 cups cold water. Gently muddle the mint leaves to release oils for a brighter aroma, then allow to steep for 10 minutes.
02 - Strain the hibiscus-mint infusion through a fine-mesh strainer into a larger pitcher, pressing gently to extract liquid and discarding the solids.
03 - Stir the honey or agave syrup and the freshly squeezed lemon juice into the strained liquid until the sweetener is fully dissolved; taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
04 - Fill each serving glass with ice cubes and pour the hibiscus-mint concentrate to about halfway up the glass.
05 - Carefully top each glass with chilled sparkling water and stir gently to combine, preserving the effervescence.
06 - Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint sprigs and serve immediately.

# Expert advice:

01 -
  • Steeping hibiscus and mint together feels like sharing a chef’s secret every time – it turns ordinary lemonade electric and unforgettable.
  • Perfect for impressing guests or just treating yourself, you can adjust the sweetness or tartness to suit any crowd, which is a game-changer at gatherings.
02 -
  • Once, I oversteeped the hibiscus for an hour – the mocktail went from pleasantly tart to mouth-puckeringly sharp; 10–15 minutes is all it needs.
  • If you add the sparkling water too early, it'll go flat before serving – always wait until everyone’s ready for a glass.
03 -
  • A quick muddle and a brief steep bring out the best of the hibiscus and mint—no need to rush the process.
  • Adding honey or agave in small increments lets you find the perfect sweetness without overwhelming the other flavors.
